Growing up neighbors and frenemies Molly and Jude were always doing their best to get under each other’s skin. Now years later they are forced to work together to help plan a joint anniversary party for their parents. At first things start off with the usual shenanigans but the more time they spend together the more Molly and Jude can’t fight their developing feelings, especially when they end up dating each other’s doppelgängers. But can they establish a romantic relationship with a big secret Molly has kept from Jude since high school? Not to mention navigating their familial and professional expectations.

I really appreciated how Molly’s struggle with her career and personal happiness is highlighted, as I know many of us have to choose between passion and consistent paycheck.

The New York setting and all the different restaurants and locations mentioned had me singing “Welcome to New York” and I am already wanting to visit again! What a great story!

While the concept behind this book is intriguing and genuinely brilliant, I felt the execution was quite poor in comparison.

Judy and Molly had an interesting dynamic from the beginning, which I'll admit was engrossing. I enjoyed their history and background, cleverly crafted by Schorr.

Where the plot falls short however, was over halfway in with the unrealistic transition from friends to something more. Ok, enemies to friends was a gradual and believable shift, but this one had me thinking I skipped a couple chapters in between. The MCs were unrecognisable in how their chemistry just changed and so did their motivations.

I did love over half of the story, so my rating isn't that bad... I'd recommend you to read this, just don't expect it to be among your top books.

I love ETL and this one sucked me in from the very beginning thanks to the antics between Jude and Molly. I really loved the first half and then the second fell apart a bit. Loved their pranks and their angst but overall it fell a little flat.

I love the concept, I just don’t know if it was well executed. there was absolutely no subtlety, the author/narrater explained EVERY joke or ironic moment like “hey get it! this is funny and/or ironic!” and idk it just kinda bugged me. molly and jude do have a cute relationship though!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Someone Just Like You is an adorable childhood enemies to lovers story set in NYC. If you are looking for a cute and fun read with amazing banter and talk, this one is for you!

Jude and Molly grew up next door to one another. Their rivalry started in grade school and has continued on ever since. When the two families come together to plan an anniversary party for both sets of parents, Molly and Jude are tasked with working together. It’s not long before the former rivalry is up and running again, with jokes and tricks being played on each other. Will the rivalry continue, or will it turn into something unexpected?

I had high hopes for this book, being a huge fan of enemies-to-lovers stories. The idea of archenemies teaming up intrigued me, and I couldn’t wait to dive into this story (I also really loved the cover of this book)!

Molly and Jude, despite being enemies since grade school, felt stuck in their immaturity. The character growth was lacking, which made it hard to connect or root for their romance. The concept had potential, I did enjoy the realization that they were dating “clones” of each other, but the execution of this story just didn’t deliver for me.

I’m open to reading more from the author, but this one just missed the mark for me.
