I watched the show when it premiered a little over a month ago and loved it. I knew the book was being released shortly after but didn't know how Julia and Shonda would work it into the fictional Bridgerton world that already existed on paper, which is different than on the screen.

I am here to say that they did a wonderful job of integrating the two. The book is incredibly similar to the events of the show (most of the dialogue is exactly the same honestly), but the book does not include any of the flash forward scenes (except for the very first and last chapters which exclusively deal with "present day" Charlotte and George). The book is told in multiple POVs which was definitely necessary to accomplish everything it needed to.

Charlotte is absolutely wonderful and I loved that her German heritage came through more. I enjoyed her frustration with the English language and its inability to create and combine words like German, resulting in her feeling as if she could not properly convey the way she was feeling at times.

George's love for Charlotte is so much more apparent in the book because we get to be in his head immediately and know what's going on with him and everything he is doing to try and be "better" for Charlotte.

If you're looking for more than the show, this isn't it.

I really enjoyed the Bridgerton novels, but this was mostly ehh.

How dare this book make me cry as much as the show did
slow-paced

Cute

The last page of a book should not make a grown woman cry this hard.
