It's cute! I also can't stop picturing Jonathan Groff as Prince George for some reason. This is a regency era romance and it is not meant to be historically accurate. It is simply an opportunity for people of color to be heavily featured in a romance novel/show as leads where they have historically been ignored.

Do I buy that this portrayal of a mental illness is accurate? No. Do I think that would be the couple's only real challenge? No, she's German. She would've had more time communicating with him. Did I enjoy how cute and supportive they were to each other as a couple. Yes! I also would've liked to see more of Brimsley and Reynolds and I actually like Agatha's subplot.

”She was a star. She was a comet. She was everything that sparkled in the night sky, brought down to earth by magic the church swore did not exist.”

“ No, George. I did not go over the wall “

Farmer George and Queen Charlotte have my entire heart. I admire George’s devotion and Charlotte’s strength. I loved reading the book after watching the Netflix series, it made this story even more beautifully heart wrenching. Tears were definitely shed, not just for the King and Queen’s love but also for sweet dear Brimsley and Reynolds and that’s the power of not only a good book, but a brilliant Netflix series as well!

“You did not go over the wall,” he said.
She smiled. “No, George. I did not go over the wall.”

I promised myself that I would read this before watching the show but never made my way around it so I really needed to get it together before Bridgerton Season 3. Ugh, tears. Just tears. I loved every single character in this book–Reynolds, Brimsley, Farmer George, Venus, Agatha. All of them.

Long live the King.
