DNF’d on ebook at 24%. I loved the Bridgerton series but this book is not good.
Reasons I didn’t like it:
1) It is extremely focused on race with no deeper backstory or meaning to take it further. None of the other Bridgerton books have this much focus on appearances as a focal point. I liked the liberties the show for the original Brigerton series took but I was hoping the books would be deeper. More meaningful themes that really dive into the structure of the problem. More than “the King wants to include people or color now because he can”.
2) It is a regurgitation of Netflix. Same plot. Same dialogue. Same everything. If you watched the show, skip the book.
3) The chemistry feels forced. This probably ties into the shallow themes and writing. It didn’t work for me.
4) The writing doesn’t flow and it makes the characters’ conversations feel choppy. This is probably a result of cut/paste the script from the show into book form.
TW: sexual situations (open door M/F and M/M), abusive relationships, mental health struggles throughout

very similar to the show (complimentary) but with the added bonus of not including all the flash forwards in the middle and the plot line about lady danbury and violet’s dad
Beautiful, heartbreaking example of real love. It is a choice, even when things get bad.

Sorry to say that I only give Queen Charlotte 2.5 stars...
The TV show, though, is a solid 5 stars. One of those few instances where the show was better than the book.
You could just tell that this was written by someone who is not a historical romance author, If this was just a [a:Julia Quinn|63898|Julia Quinn|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1493243934p2/63898.jpg] book, it would be so much better.
Easy to read, though!
