It’s basically the screen play, but it’s a good thing I love the show.

If you've watched the TV show, you don't need to read the book. They're more or less exactly the same.
Junk food book, I just read it because I needed something on the early morning commute that didn't require brain power.

a levels made this the longest time i’ve taken to read a book but my god did it slowly rip my heart out
This book is really not necessary if you've watched the show. In fact, the show includes MORE than the book.
One advantage the book has is that the story is without jumping between time frames. It does provide a little additional insight into the characters' thoughts and feelings. I did find some inconsistencies in the writing, which probably comes from two people collaborating on the book and could have been fixed with a better editor.
I would recommend this book only if you are EXTREMELY curious about the book or if you don't want to watch the show but are still interested in the story. But you do not need to read the book AND watch the show if you don't want to. I think one really important thing to keep in mind is that this is not a continuation story of the Bridgerton book series, but a novelization of the Bridgerton television series.
Spoiler
The storyline involving young Lady Bridgerton and her father and Lady Danbury does not exist in the book at all. In fact, the "present day" storyline does not appear at all in the book. And honestly, for that I am thankful. Alas, there is no additional information as to what may have happened to Reynolds in the "present day."One advantage the book has is that the story is without jumping between time frames.
