I definitely enjoyed this book way more than the others I’ve reread so far.
I think that is largely because of the plot twist reveal and the fact you finally get some answers.
Also because for me, Clary, the main character, does start to redeem herself. I really didn’t like her in book 2, as I felt she was very self centred and immature, but I definitely felt she redeemed herself in this book.
I loved seeing the relationships develop in this book, and some of the friendships are so special.
It’s also full of action so really just keeps going constantly from start to finish which makes it a very quick and enjoyable read!

With this book I really understood how much I missed these dramatic kids. Clary and especially Jace are just so over dramatic it's great. I will probably never get over him saying her name and the emotions he seems to have. I've always thought that Jace had the most emotional vulnerable scenes in the books and I stay by that. I still like him a lot.
obviously this book is far from perfect, but it is very entertaining and I have a soft spot for the relationships in this book. I still think that it has such a good ending and that it would be perfectly fine to end their story with this trilogy, but I'm actually kinda excited to redescover (because I don't really remember) what happened in the series after it.

Also, I've reread this again after binge watching the series and it's quite interesting how different they are and in what points I like the one more than the other. As a whole I still prefer the books, but that could be my Clary and Jace obsession of the past and a bit of book snobbery.

I put a content warner for incest. It's really not easy to explain why without giving spoilers, so I will explain them in the spoiler section.
So the most obvious thing is the relationship between Jace and Clary that seems to be really incesty till it is resolved that they are actually not siblings. But they do kiss and have feelings for each other while thinking they are siblings, even though they think it is sick.
Actual incest does happen though too. Clary actually does have a brother, but when she first meets him, she doesn't know that he's her brother. He does though. They go on some semi romantic walks and he kisses her, but she doesn't like it. He does seem to have some kind of sexual feelings for her though, which is kind of... part of his demonic nature? it's complicated, but that's cassandra clare for you
