I had forgotten that I had watched the TV series, BEFORE reading the novel. I try very hard to read first, then watch, but I guess I got lazy and excited for the new season (which was wonderful).
This story is amazing. There are so many twists and turns. Of course, the story can NEVER be adapted page for page, but they did get the essentials.
I am constantly amazed at how well Diana Gabaldon weaves fiction into history. Very well done.
When I am done with this series, I want to read the Lord John series. He is quite an interesting character.
This book spends a lot more time with Brianna and Roger...which I was glad for. Such a great story of love and struggles. Both of them are from another time, but because of love...everything flows from there.

I do love this series, but I am over halfway through this book, and I am putting it down for now. I have realized that I absolutely love the Jamie and Claire from the first book, and that love pulled me through all subsequent books until now. But now? Things have gotten complicated to the point that I'm having a hard time caring. They seem different. And I have sort of lost interest. I may pick this series up again later; I am certainly not ruling it out, but I at least need a break!

STOP MAKING ME CRY, DIANA.
In all seriousness, these aren't the best books ever. But they're damn good. And I can't seem to quit Claire and Jamie (and family). So I might as well acknowledge that I do rather enjoy them. Really enjoy them.

I have yet to come across one of these books I don't like. She finds a way to keep the reader intrigued and hanging on the edge of their seat even after 800 pages or 6 books into the series. I never would've thought I would enjoy a historical romance. The events that continue to happen to this family are so gut wrenching and evoke real, raw human emotion. I find myself hanging on every word and dying for more!!
While Voyager still holds as my favorite in this series so far this book broke my heart. So much goes on in this beast of a book. Now, having already watched Season 5 of the tv show I was prepared for some of the events that take place but there were still so many that just knocked the wind out of me. At times I didn't think my heart could take anymore. I just wanted to reach into the book and give some of my favorite characters a big hug. And that ending...I am still processing what this means for everyone.
