I watched The Girls Next Door when it first aired to season 5 (season 6 was a sham and should never be mentioned). I was excited when I noticed Holly was coming out with a book.

During the reading of this book, I was amazed how she could stay in that mansion for so long. I mean, the show (and Bridget) helped her become who she is today. I pretty much felt bad through the entire book. I have never felt so heartbroken after reading a memoir.

I watched some episodes of GND to see if what she was talking about. Hef at times can be down right rude and his laugh seemed so insincere sometimes. You can tell by watching the first season, Holly looked upset all the time.

Especially when Barbi Benton came to the mansion on the first season. During the fight, she made a comment that Hef didn't like when she pierced her ears. Well, when someone youre dating changes for you, you dont tell them, "I cant sleep with someone who wears pierced ears"

I enjoyed this book and people who enjoyed watching the show should take a look at this book. She seems like she found her fairy tale to a nightmare of vicious women who fawned over an 80 year old man (hes 89 now. Holy shit)

3.5

I gave it two stars because I thought it was entertaining and an interesting perspective. I never watched her shows but knew of her so I appreciated the "behind the scenes" aspect. However I thought the writing was weak and the reoccurring "it's not my fault" aspect became heavy and off putting. I'm a fan of memoirs but if you believe that every word is truth, then you must also believe that reality TV is all true as well.

I needed a good gossip/glimpse into another's life book. The writing wasn't polished, but I enjoyed the story all the same.

I’ve always loved watching Holly on the show. It was nice to get a look at her personality and an inside view of how the mansion really worked and was like. I am so happy purpose and more meaning in life and that she didn’t attribute that to finding a husband or man to love her. Reading this book 4 stars mostly because I was only curious enough about the life to pick it up, and I read it as part of a reading challenge. It’s impossible to rate the life of someone else, so my reading comes from the way the story was told. I did really enjoy the Alice in wonderland quotes.

She didn't hold back about anything and I loved that. Loved hearing behind the scenes stuff about the mansion, Girls Next Door, and Holly's World. She is very like-able. I am happy she is happy now.
