Shakespeare's sonnets are lovely and a total pleasure to read.
I'm going to be honest; I like Edmund Spenser's Amoretti sonnets better. That said, Shakespeare's explorations of love and desire are enjoyable, not too complex, and definitely worth reading for lovers of poetry or Shakespeare
Over the course of a long love affair with English literature (and the coursework therein), I consider myself to have read all of Shakespeare's sonnets. Though the merit of these works is obvious, I have always had trouble connecting with Shakespeare's poetry in the same way I am able to connect with his plays.
hey has anybody else noticed that shakespeare was a pretty clever guy?? who knew..
I really enjoyed reading these. I didn't think I would like them because I had read them before and I "didn't get it." I'm not saying I "got it" this time, but it was a lot more fun trying to understand them than it was before when I just passively read them and gave up to do something else.
A beautiful collection of all 154 of Shakespeare's sonnets. A must read for all lovers of poetry and Shakespeare.
It was like reading his diary. Some were so good and others were mediocre. Overall I enjoyed it.
I do enjoy Shakespeare and his masterful use of language.
