The second book in this series blew me away and I’m so glad I stuck around to read it. I think this first book is just a little too messy—I found it hard to follow the plot at times (twins in a graphic novel make for some confusion, especially because I think their hair styles swap part way through), and I didn’t fall in love with the main characters as quickly as I wish I had meaning I didn’t find certain moments as emotional as I was supposed to. That said, Tillie establishes a great setting and a compelling group of characters. The queer and disability rep is lovely. Can’t emphasize enough how much this story grows in the second volume. I really recommend reading the next one!

It's been a very long time since I caught up with Clementine so this was a real treat to see her as a teenager. I have no clue what happened in between the games and this book, but I feel like it isn't necessary for reading this book. Can't wait to continue.
