I don't know exactly what I think about this book.

I love the narrating style. Nelly Dean is an amazing storyteller, and Mr. Lockwood is a patient listener with zero interruptions. The excruciating detail is questionable because I cannot remember what I ate for dinner the previous day, let alone incidents of years ago. But the context is appreciated. I would also like to believe that her narration is biased, because of her fondness of Catherine Earnshaw and Catherine Linton.

As for Healthcliff, he's a different story altogether. I don't like him, and I don't think I'm at fault. The way he is written, he is not to be liked.

I enjoyed reading it, and it warrants a re-read.

I found this novel both captivating and irritating, I loved the atmosphere and visual nature of the writing. The telling of the story through conversation and retelling was ingenious and made it feel like I was being told the story first hand. In the beginning it was difficult to understand the flow of the novel and the setting, however after a while I figured out the setting and characters and their relationships to each other (with the help of googling a family tree of the characters). I also found it hard to like any of the characters, every single one was infuriating and awful. Who was the protagonist supposed to be?
