I think it’s my favorite book. I loved the story so much. The characters are not really lovable but they are so attaching.

Deserving of the hype and its status as a classic within the English literary canon. Unlike with most classics, whilst reading this book I did not find its pacing to be an issue. There are some beautiful quotes throughout this novel, but my favourite aspect of it has to be the dynamics between characters and generations. Wuthering Heights also provides incredible insight into the Gothic genre. For a work of fiction, this novel is fascinating.

Words alone cannot describe the heart-wrenching experience of reading this powerful, beautiful book. It was not a pleasant read but an important one that has changed the way I think.

I found this one very slow paced and reading it was quite the grind. Exceptionally dark though, so I naturally loved it.
Say what you will about the villain but I was impressed by his perseverance and how he uses the very same systemic techniques that oppressed him to oppress others, effectively perpetuating the misery.
Made me think of Philip Larkin's words:

"Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don't have any kids yourself."

Sidenote: I'd generously say that I understood about 30% of what Joseph says in the book. Didn't make a difference, really.

I have been intimidated by books from the 19th century as I was concerned I could not understand the lingo, the slang, etc. However at times wordy and using old slang Wuthering Heights is incredibly easy to read. It helped to have the glossary in the back especially for the cleverly written Northern dialect. The story is gripping and I love that it is told from Mrs Dean as we may never know her bias of those involved.

What I understood from the culture around this story was that it was one of love, and romance. Well I believe those who created movies, songs, etc of this novel's contents were incredibly amiss in doing so and therefore misrepresent this story in it's entirety.

If you are nervous about 19th century novels like I was, I urge you to give this one a shot as it is absolutely an incredible story that I wish I had given a chance to sooner.

Amazing. It’s has the same vibe as twilight. Total chaos. Every character is a horrible person doing chaotic things and I love it.
