I enjoyed the dual time periods and the setting of this story.  It wasn't much of a mystery since I could see where it was going.  However, I still liked the book.

Found it quite hard to get through; relentlessly tragic and difficult to keep track of the characters and their relationships. Found myself reffering to the family tree every few pages, especially at the beginning. It picks up pace in the second half, however and it is interesting to see how the mystery unfolds.
