Oh this book had promise! If the story had focused on the relationship quandaries and growth, it would have been SO interesting! Sidestep the fact that maybe I still have a little PTSD from Covid years, it still could have been okay. But instead, Jodi interlaced all the biased, political nonsense of those Covid years into this story---all the nonsense we are still trying to recover from. It felt so agenda-laden, which was a maaaaajor detraction from the goodness of the story, even if Diana is the most self-absorbed, unlikable, annoying character ever. 2 stars feels generous for this book. It was painful to get through even with some skimming. Not sure I’ll read a Jodi Picoult again.

Well done. I'm glad she tackled the pandemic and told the stories.

One word: spectacular.

Wow, I loved this book! Did not see the twist coming at all. Lots of great backstory and character development, and it was raw, emotional and heartwarming the way she was able to find some comfort and resolution in the difficult relationship with her mother. Lots of harsh realities of COVID that we’d soon like to forget. The book got really deep and contemplative in spots and wow lots of things to think about. I devoured this book in one sitting and it’s definitely one I’ll read again soon!

I loved this book. It was well written and brought aspects of the seriousness of the pandemic and how it has impacted so many people.

I enjoyed the tie in about the alternate reality of the main character and fell in love with the life she led.

I’m giving this a 5* rating not just because it’s well written and certainly engaging, but also because I’m going to think about how much that ending pissed me tf off. Yet, it was really the only way it could end. Aargh!! This one will stick with me for a long time.
