So beautifully written and captivating; I was never once bored.

“Wish You Were Here” was a good book, but it definitely took me by surprise. It was my first time reading this author. The story dives into the aftereffects of Covid, which I found really interesting. Although the topic was relevant, the ending didn’t really live up to my expectations. Overall, while the book had its moments, it didn’t entirely capture my interest all the way through.

I will start by saying I love Jodi Picoult and devour almost everything she writes. But I was pretty disappointed in this book. I didn’t love the turn it took and I really didn’t like the way it ended at all. I don’t want to give the ending away, I just want to say that I really didn’t understand why it had to end that way.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Diana is an associate specialist at Sotheby’s and her boyfriend, Finn, is a surgical resident in a NYC hospital. They are excited about their upcoming vacation to the Galápagos Islands where Diana is sure that Finn is going to propose. But it’s early 2020 and COVID-19 is just about to explode. Finn has to cancel his plans because the hospital is on “all hands on deck” mode. Finn convinces Diana to go on the non-refundable vacation solo. After all, this virus may only last a week or so. By the time Diana gets to Isabela Island everything is shut down and she is stranded with no luggage, no cell service, no anything. Or is she?

Did not expect the twist AT ALL. First covid book-felt weird to read a book about something I’ve lived through.

I was very interested to read this book. A fiction novel during COVID. It surprised me. It really did. But I did not like the twist at all. I would’ve preferred the story without it.
