I absolutely adore Black Bird! The art, simply delicious. I definitely recommend it to anyone out there over 16. A wonderful shojo that screams yummy male characters through out.

Wow, these brothers are such drama llamas. It's so difficult to figure out which one to trust. I really enjoyed the little flashback; it shed a little bit of light on things, which was nice. Though, I feel like it probably could have worked a lot better if it had been in a much later chapter.
I was a little upset that Kuzunoha wasn't in this volume. But at the same time, I didn't really mind because there was enough going on that his appearance wasn't really necessary.
I appreciate that Sakurakoji includes background information about the Eight Daitengu, as well as the glossary at the back of each volume. Yeah, there are some words that I already know from years of watching anime and reading manga. But, it's nice to be able to learn new words, especially if they're in another language.
Misao's kind of dumb. Let's be serious. Then again, most sixteen year old girls usually are pretty dumb. But it took reading one of her father's books to realize she may die?
What did she expect? "Oh Misao, honey, I called the wedding planner today to talk about the centre pieces for the tables. They're just not right."
Oh, and I love Taro, Jiro and Saburo. They're so cute.

Misao starts to realise her feelings for Kyo as his retainers and brother Shou turn up causing more chaos, as well as some deep seated resentment. A lot more movement from Kyo and confusion in Misao's mind as to whether she likes him or not. Also the loss of memory playing a larger roll in this volume. Well written and beautifully drawn still, slow moving but fun all the same.
Way back in my high school days I was OBSESSED with this series. Seriously, I was attached to this series and got super upset when I couldn't get the final volumes at my local bookstores. It broke my heart! For years, this manga series collected dust on a bookshelf in my house.
Welcome to quarantine cleaning and reading! Where I pull out old books to reread and review, and then lend them to all of my friends. It's great. Honestly, I recommend it.
This series does not hold up for me. While I used to think this was romantic and like a chase, it seems kind of creepy now. It's a little rape-y in nature, yet I still want to read it and see where it goes.
If you're looking for an immature fantasy romance, this is it. It's not to be taken seriously, as it's a manga about a girl who can bring prosperity to a clan if they marry and sleep with her. Honestly, it's a goofy plot but it does make for an interesting read.
As an adult woman, I'm a little creeped out though. The boys get to gawk at pictures of Misao in her underwear and more men want to rape her. It's creepy AF. Like, we almost get a full rape scene. Wasn't this for a middle grade to YA audience? My local bookstore recommended it to middle grade readers. Yeah, you read that right. Middle grade. I was told at the time I might be too old of an audience for it at 15.
Overall, this book is fine if you don't mind rape-y and sexual jokes. I personally didn't like them, but back in my youth they went over my head and I thought it was funny. Being older, it's different. Know what you like to read is basically my warning. This book knows it's audience.
First time around back in high school: 5 out of 5.
Adult me: 2 out of 5.

I loved this one just as much as the first one. But, I did find it a bit difficult to tell Kyo apart from his brother. Also...I don't know how to pronounce anyones names.
'Misao is the bride of prophecy whose blood gives power to the demon who claims her. But most demons want to keep her power for themselves - by eating her! Now Misao is just trying to stay alive...'
Sparkles and beautiful men and drama, oh my!! *twirls*
I really enjoyed this volume of Black Bird. In it, we were introduced to the eight Daitengu, Kyo's vassals, including Kyo's older brother, Sojo. Misao struggled with her feelings for Kyo, unsure if he actually loves her or if he only wants her for the prosperity of his clan.
There are still some problems with abrupt scene transition, but it is not as bad as it was in volume one. Perhaps because I was so engrossed in the story I didn't notice, but hey.
The plot this volume was more exciting and engaging than that of the first. This could perhaps be explained by the fact the first volume was kind of an introduction to the premise of the series and volume two has been able to delve into character development more.
My fears that Black Bird could cross the line in regards to sexual assault were (thankfully) not realised this volume. I think Kyo respects Misao too much for him to do anything serious without her consent. Other demons, not so much perhaps, but then these demons are portrayed as evil and hopefully Kyo will always be around to save the day.
I did wonder towards the end of the volume that it seemed to be running out of plot, but thankfully a new spanner was thrown in the mechanism of Kyo and Misao's relationship in the last few pages. I should have known it wouldn't be that easy...
Looking forward to reading the next volume! :)

It definitely felt repetitive in some parts, but I'm excited to continue the series!
I loved Kyo feeling more like a protector but I still definitely see some problems and Misao's helplessness is kinda annoying. But, for now bearable.

Further wing-age. Still liking this series. Must find out what further hijinks these people get into...
