After enjoying Paul’s last book about Hiking the Appalachian trail I really looked forward to reading about his adventure of biking across the USA. I enjoy his writing style and can often relate to him though I can’t imagine not checking your tire pressure for the majority of the trip and the adventure was somewhat diminished when after a few days he sent his tent home and made the entire trip with hotels and restaurants. Still making the entire trip with no support was impressive. After being picked up by a Christian publishing company he appears to be attempting to please his publisher, but it’s still very good and at times thought provoking like in the beginning when he seeks God’s will when contemplating leaving the comfort of home to do the ride. Then later equating a part of the ride when he was in a very lonely and bad place to what hell is like and near the end when he writes “Anyone who thinks that following God is boring and restrictive is missing out on a fulfilling life; it’s a great adventure.”
