I loved this book. I loved the joy of this book. I loved the views about bad moods. I liked how it portrayed the bad mood passing to different people – and sometimes, some people weren’t affected by it at all. I liked the moral that you could choose whether you would be upset by something; and how much you would be upset by something; even when someone else looking in would have thought it would have made you upset.

I really enjoyed the writing, and mum wanting to get a vanilla yogurt, then changing her mind and getting fudge ripple ice-cream. This book was just filled with so much random joy!  I reccomend it!

Okay, I see what the author was trying to do here, but I have some issues with how it actually happened. Laughing when something bad happens to someone else is bad enough, but the whole guy taking off his pants in front of a woman after being told not to is deeply disturbing to me, let alone that this is the start to some kind of relationship. That is not the kind of message I'm looking to send to my kid.

Really beautiful, playful illustrations by Matthew Forsythe. Extra star for those.

Really crappy story by Snicket. Sometimes if you're mean to people and disrobe in front of them against their protestations, they'll decide actually they liked it and marry you? Get all the way out of here with that.

Somehow all the journal reviews of this book missed the jolly take on sexual harassment and disregarding consent--no doesn't mean no. In fact, when you take off your pants in front of a woman and she sees your underpants, she's happy and not mad and she falls in love and you get married and everyone else is happy too. This book is some 1950s train-wreck published in 2017. I can't even. Is Harvey Weinstein ghostwriting as Lemony Snickett?

I got this little picture book from LibrayThing Early Reviewers in exchange for a review.

This is the kind of book I enjoyed reading to my children many years ago before they became the teenagers they are today. I really liked the illustrations and the story wasn't too bad either, although it was hard to see it through the eyes of those that it was written for. There were a couple of times I was left scratching my head, especially at the man in the dry-cleaners, but other than that it was a short enjoyable story about the effect of bad moods on us all and how we can deal with them. I'm sure it will become a favourite in some households anyway.
