Wow. I know I'm saying it again but this was the best one I've read so far. This one unfortunately has taken me the longest to start and read though, but that's simply because of how busy I've been.
The way the characters are coming together and all the povs is what this series SHOULD have been from the beginning. I definitely think if Marked, Betrayed, Chosen (and maybe part of Untamed, but that one could have been reworked a little on its own) had been one book this series would have had a stronger impact. I can't believe there's only two books left but also how is there two?!
We didn't get much from any specific character expect for Aurox, which was great seeing the inner battle for him and us having the knowledge that he's Heath, Shaylin which I still want more of. Maybe she'll be a bigger focus moving forward? She's far too interesting to have been brought in at the end (but perhaps if the TV show ever gets made she could get a little more backstory/development and potentially be introduced a little earlier) and we got a little for Shaunee/Erin which has totally gotten interesting seeing one go bad and them turn into their own people for better or worse. I think if we would have gotten more from them in the beginning then it would have hit a little harder? Idk. Maybe even with hating her now we should have gotten POV from her/Dallas (as we do Neferet and at one time did Kalona). Then again maybe the series doesn't end everything with a pretty little bow? I'll be curious to see what plot holes exist still when I'm done with the series.
I usually have more to write in these reviews but honestly, I think I've said it all. What could be better, what I like when it's written well. On to the next novella!

I listened to the audiobook and found this one to be entertaining! It didn’t seem to drag as much. This series is very long and in my opinion, I don’t know if I would read it again but I want to see it to the end. I will probably check out the novellas and otherworld spin off series!
Overall, I liked this quite a bit but some things are repetitive. The ending was awesome and ended on a cliff hanger though! Last book of 2024!

Like with all the books in this series not much excitement happens until the last 3 chapters of the book. I am getting really bored of Nerferet now. If the series dealt with a different problem in each book they might be a bit better but having the same enemy running throughout out is so boring! I just need to finish this series now and be done with it.
I like when books are written in multiple perspectives... but this book had too many and switched too often.
As much as this series and this book annoy me, Hidden is one of the better books in this series. I did not expect Grandma Redbird to live. I just knew she was going to die. I’m still annoyed that the Twins “broke up” but maybe Erin will come to her senses. However it is nice to see Shaunee has her own person. Zoey stood up to Neferet so I’m sure the next book all hell will break lose. I’m so happy I’m almost done with this series. Two more books left.
The series needs to come to an end. The story has run its course and has lost sight of the original story it seems. The change in point of view is also getting much more distracting. I will finish the series since I have gotten this far but it needs to end.
At last, Zoey has what she wanted: the truth is out. Neferet's evil has been exposed, and the High Council is no longer on her side -- but she's far from done wreaking havoc in the vampyre world. First, a mysterious fire ravages the stables. Then, Neferet makes a devastating move that will test them all.
With the seeds of distrust sown and Darkness breeding chaos at the House of Night, everyone must band together -- but that's proving to be more difficult than ever before. The twins are barely speaking and the House of Night's former enemy, Kalona, has now become their warrior, pushing their trust to the limit. To top it off, Zoey is pretty darn sure she might be losing her mind. She saw something when she looked at Aurox through the Seer Stone that she can hardly explain to herself, let alone her friends. Is it possible that Heath has come back in a different form? Is that why Zoey's so intrigued by Aurox, when it's so obvious that he's dangerous? And who would believe her if she told them? Zoey knows that following her instinct about Aurox might be just what they need to defeat evil . . . but if she's wrong, it could cause the destruction of those closest to her.
I'm not sure why I keep on reading these books, it's just a habit, a bit like "I've read the first nine so I might as well carry on". Anyway, I skim read it and it was fairly enjoyable although I feel that all the stuff about 'invoking the elements' could just be cut and pasted from the previous books. Same old same old.

For some reason, this book in the series didn't really do it for me. Whether its because its coming to an end and its just been drawn out, or this was simply another filler book in the series, I'm not sure. I love the HoN series, but this one just seemed very slow in comparison, and when things did start to happen it was all a bit predictable and you could see it coming. I'm interested to see what the last two books in the series have for us, and hopefully it won't become too drawn out and will still keep the essence of the series and be enjoyable. I also am praying that it doesn't come down to another Zoey - Stark - Heath (now Aurox) love triangle cause that was just annoying the first time.

these books aren't nearly as bad as everybody says they are. I have enjoyed the series. its nothing like twilight and focuses on light versus dark. the focus is on how a group of people can learn each others weaknesses and faults and help them through life. each character has their own set of difficulty and must make the choice to follow the hard path to do what's right or allow themselves to succumb to the easy way and run from their problems. there are frustrating points in the series that are childish but honestly it shows how the characters develop and how they choose to live their lives.
