I read it in high school in class and it changed me. A very important book of our history and of black voices. Powerful and amazing. Want to read it again.

READ THIS BOOK.
Obviously an absolutely heartbreaking story but written so excellently I couldn’t put it down. Reading his story from his perspective is just something else. It says so much and makes such an impact in so few pages. I genuinely believe everyone should read this book. It should be in every secondary school reading list/syllabus.

I have been required to read this book on two different occasions for academic settings, and I can honestly say that I enjoyed it both times. It is truly an intellectual work with griping contents that will put readers in a time of struggle and triumph throughout Mr. Douglass's life.
