This was a super quick read. While the topics that were covered in this book were very emotionally heavy and important to talk about, I never felt like I was too emotionally drained from reading it. I had read the authors previous book, “The Way I Used to be”, about two years ago and really enjoyed my time with the characters and the story. So when I heard that she had written another book I was excited to pick it up. While I liked “The Way I Used to be” a little more I still think that this is a good, important and quick read that is worth picking up if you have the chance.

Amber Smith has created another phenomenal story with her sophomore novel, this time crafting a story detailing the lingering influence of abuse throughout an entire family and how sometimes the hardest thing in the world is letting go. Heartbreaking and hopeful at the same time, an absolutely enthralling book!

This was the second book I read by Amber Smith and I loved it just as much as I did The Way I Used To Be. It took me a little while to get into but that was mostly because I had other things going on in my life, but overall I enjoyed the book:)
