Such a sweet, heartwarming book. I enjoyed the alternating perspectives of the cousins and the message of friendship and finding a little bit of magic all around you. I loved the illustrations and I think they really made the story come to life! Very cute book!

Simple and sweet transitional chapter book about family and friendship. Told in alternating perspectives, this first title in a new series follows cousins Alma and Del as they get what they think they've always wished for - living closer together. When Alma misses her lakeside home and worries about fitting in with her father's side of the family, Del thinks Alma is missing out on the magic of 86 1/2 Twenty Third Avenue.

It’s like the early chapter book version of Love, Sugar, Magic!

This is a sweet short chapter book (gr 2-4 to read on their own) about two cousins who are best friends, become neighbors, and a disagreement threatens their relationship. It does an amazing job of laying out a realistic Big Blowup between two 9-10 year old girls, and how they talk through their feelings. As an adult, the problem felt a little bit inserted by the author because the book needs a Conflict. It didn't quite grow organically out of the plot.
