Characters were a bit shallow and surface level development wise, I like multiple POV but I only truly liked one of the four characters discussed.

Huh????? did I just read a soap opera?

3.5 - enjoyed this! just wish there was... a plot? lol

I really enjoyed this book. I found each character had a unique voice and the relationships between them was interesting. I kind of wish we had more material as the ending felt pretty unfulfilling, but I would still recommend this.

“I would live your life so much better than you, if I had your face.”

This was such an intriguing book. Over the years, I've heard so much about toxic Korean beauty standards and the alarming cosmetic surgery rates amongst young girls, so the premise of this story peaked my curiosity with little effort. If I had your Face follows four equally troubled girls living in the same apartment building as they struggle to fit into a society that values beauty and status above all else. One is a room salon girl who's worked herself up to the 'prettiest 10%', one is a struggling artist plagued by tragedy, another an idol-obsessed mute hairstylist, and the final a woman in a lifeless marriage yearning for a child. Four very outwardly different people who are more similar than they know.

“Rich people are fascinated by happiness,” she said. “It’s something they find maddening.”

I think I liked almost everything about this book, though I couldn't help wanting more. It felt like I really understood Ara and Kyuri by the last page, though Wonna and Miho were even more puzzling than when I was first introduced to them. A lot of the events touched upon felt surface level, like I was watching a drama rather than getting to know the deeper meaning behind what was unfolding. I did however enjoy having such a varied female perspectives, since each of the girls had different outlooks on life and how to move forward with hardship. There's something so comforting about the friendships formed between them in spite of the rough patches.

Cha's writing didn't necessarily stand out to me. It did the job, and told the story that needed to be told. If only this book were longer!! I wanted more out of that ending, though I suppose its mundanity is significant in its own way. An overall good read!
