Book Review
Title: Day of the Trolls
Author: Ron Butlin & James Hutcheson
Genre: Children’s/Picture Book
Rating: *****
Review: As this is a children’s picture book my review will be a lot shorter than the ones I usually write. I really like the concept of Day of the Trolls as it is full of naughty trolls celebrating troll day but terrorising people and just getting up to some general mischief, until they are treated the same way they have treated the human all day. The trolls soon come to realise that being naughty and mischievous isn’t all that great and want to do it over again.
I really liked the writing style as it alternates between prose and poetry, making it very simple to read for adults and children alike. I also really like the art style, it wasn’t too polished given it quite a rustic feel and it really appealed to the inner child in me.
Overall, I felt Day of the Trolls was great for young children, it could also be good for getting people out of a reading slump and obviously, adults can read it as well just for the nostalgia that children’s books provide. Highly recommend for people with young children.
