It was a nice book to read, but I hated the miscommunication trope. It was nice and easy, but the romance at first felt a little off.

~~I won this book along with If You Could See the Sun from a giveaway hosted by YallWest. Thank you to Inkyard Press for the ARC!~~
Full transparency, I'm not a K-Pop, K-Drama, nor general Korean media fan. I haven't jumped on the bandwagon and have no interest in doing so. I only read this because I won it and thought, "Why not?"
But this was just not it. I despised both of the main leads because they were so jealous and possessive of each other, the writing was subpar, and because the story is so heavily reliant on the romance, the plot just meandered and hit every story beat you'd expect it to it.
Overall, I wished I haven't read this. I have so many other potentially great books I could've read, instead.

It’s crazy how much Susan’s writing has improved since this first novel. I read this perfect review from bbyrealm:
Well, I finished the book.
After a very long and painful three days, while I wanted to fall in love with these characters as they struggle through miscommunications and their Korean identities in a world that has commercialized the culture, I am left feeling consumed by the characters' need to be relatable.
There is little pay-off for any of their struggles, and if there is a pay-off, the struggle wasn't something that lasted more than a couple of pages. While reading this book, I felt as if I was watching a car crash, except the car is going 5 miles an hour and I can do nothing but listen to the driver ramble on and on and on with language that might somehow make me feel sorry for them. The ending was especially frustrating because the author seems to take any agency the characters gain after How many pages and makes it into a big joke.
Question: Is there any reason for the allergies? Is there any consequences to Nate just in general?

Seoulmates is a wonderful novel about embracing one’s identity and fighting for true love; even when it comes at a groundbreaking price. The plot showcases how idols and movie stars are regular people who want to live regular lives, but the industry has higher standards for these individuals to exude the perfect image to the public. Love and shared history prevails in this story.
