Good, fun sci-fi full of interesting ideas with a few vaguely cringey pop culture references.
Tore through it!

It almost works as a parody of the god-fantasy of a narcissistic techno-yuppy, but ends up reading like the god-fantasy of a narcissistic techno-yuppy. None the less, I liked the pop culture references, and the differing personalities of the various Bobs. It needs more real characters for the Bob-god-von-neuman probes to interact with. I also liked exploring the local stellar neighborhood through Taylor's clear, snappy, prose, and I appreciated his love of engineers and engineering. The plot moves at a decent clip, even though much of the book reads like someone narrating the game turns of an explore, exploit, exterminate board game.

This book is funny, thought provoking and creates a sense of wonder as you learn more about the universe.

It was fun and I liked it. I’m just not necessarily clamoring to read the next one right away

This reminded me a lot of Murderbot Diaries. Good humor. "Robots". Fun space travelling. All around very enjoyable. The concept felt fresh. It was exciting to explore being AI with each Bob and what they did with their circumstances.
