I highly recommend reading this book, it's definitely worth it if you're a woman in your 20s still figuring life out. I laughed, gasped and cried.

I found the first half to be a bit confusing especially with all the time jumps. At one point she's 20 and then rewind to when Dolly is 15 and the fast forward to the next boyfriend, I got quite lost.
The 2nd half of the book I loved. It's written so intimately I felt like I was really seeing inside Dolly's 20-something head and holding onto every bit of advice she gave.

I'm 22 now but maybe I'll reread this book in a year or 2 and see if there's more I can take from it. At the moment all I can think is I wish I had the love of a friendship group like Dolly's.

I actually love this book!!! I was a bit surprised at that because to be honest, I didn't know it was an autobiographical memoir before I started and I found Dolly's lifestyle hard to relate to. But she has a way of making her words flow and enrapturing you in her stories that is just magical. Despite reading about this lifestyle that felt so distant from me, there were moments where a specific lesson or sentence would defy logic and make me think that there is nothing truer than what I just read. The pacing confused me at the beginning but I ended up really enjoyed the all-over-the-place anthology nature of the book. My favorite stories have to be of Farly and Florence, and how Dolly writes about them with this undeniably genuine love and affection. My takeaways largely have to do with the preciousness of that friendship and as I enter my 20s and various friendships shift in form, Dolly reassures that change is not a sign of a weakening relationship. It's just different. I think I'll look back on this with a little more reverence in the future, but for now, it was a highly enjoyable and funny read that I am happy to have encountered at this point in my life.

This book made me laugh and cry; took me a minute to get into but I enjoyed reading about Dolly's extremely relatable life.

I read this because my friend loves it and for that reason I am glad it exists. I know some people really love this and I can see why, but I think it's a kind of enjoyment that really hinges on relatability, and it largely wasn't relatable to me. Some parts were really beautifully and sensitively done, especially towards the end. The only thing knocking it down a little bit for me is a bit of a strange one, which is that it seems to inhabit a worldview in which everyone is entirely self-absorbed, which seems strange given the book is mainly centred around love. It gave many parts intended for humour a more negative tinge which unfortunately affected how much I could enjoy the book. Still, a very light, easy read with a lot of heart that I can see being a source of comfort for people who find it relatable.

While I appreciated some of the chapters I found to be a bit boring and way too slow. There is so much that could’ve stayed out of the final draft. At times it was easy to relate to Dolly but at others it was way too difficult if you’re not from London. She names a lot of places that seem quite relevant to the story but if you’re not familiar, it would be hard to keep up with. The one thing I really liked was the honest and intimate description of Dolly and Farly’s friendship. I enjoyed seeing every aspect of it, the good, the bad, the dark secrets and the unconditional support.
