I don't understand why I don't love this book. I love this author and the plot is exactly up my alley, but I find my mind wandering when I'm reading and the characters feel wooden to me. Though they're not really. Anyway, may come back and try again at some point. Also, the only killing I've seen so far they ftb for the torture/wet work. If you're going to write a book about a kid doing a vengeance killing spree, but don't show his killing/revenge why write the book?

Ant and Erik leave Wild Heart Ranch on a journey fueled by retribution as Ant uses his skills, honed by Anders and Hopper, to reclaim his life from those who traumatised and abused him.

This is also a journey where these two wonderful men finally get together. Erik takes off his blinders and sees Ant for the brave and courageous young man that he his. It also helps that Ant proves to Erik that he has the skills to better men much larger than himself and Erik is suitably chastised. Their relationship includes plenty of chemistry, communication and steam alongside sweet tender cuddles and as Ant has his revenge the blood and clean up that comes with it.

I love the personal growth of Erik and Ant as they negotiate not only their relationship but how their past affects them but doesn’t define them. It’s also fun having Hopper and Anders pop in and cameos from the monsters and billionaires. My heart hurt at the impact of Ants past but it was also all warm and fuzzy as he became the man he truly wanted to be with the love of his life forever beside him.
