Classic Ali Hazelwood, small girl with many insecurities meets large man obsessed with her, becomes more secure.

I think this is my favourite Ali Hazelwood so far!

I absolutely loved Mallory and Nolan, and live for some yearning. The opposite appearances making them match the white/black chess pieces was such a nice detail. We love a man who knows what he wants and is willing to work - and wait - for it. Nolan is dreamy and and swoon worthy and I’m obsessed!

Such an easy breezy read that I highly enjoyed! Even though I really wanted to see their entire World Championship play out, I really loved the ending (aka, last page and epilogue 😜)

Super fun fluffy read, although Nolan seems to me to have the most marble stone personality out of the now 3 Ali Hazelwood books I’ve read.
Could super relate to Mallory on way too many accounts, which was a bit anxiety inducing. But I think a YA is exactly the right place for her and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this book 🥰

This was CUUUTE!
Am I about to enter my Ali Hazelwood era?
Everytime I talk about how I've moved on from YA romance, I find myself back in it hahahaha

This was so fun and witty. AH writes great characters with real-life problems. I think that's what I love most about her writing, everyone feels authentic. Her characters have lives outside of their love interests!!

Also, shoutout to AH for speaking on the gender stereotypes in chess performance. It's the main focus of this book, and it's done so well!
