This was one of the biggest switch-ups Iโve ever seen in a book series and as far as characters and relationships goโฆ it was so unexpected and honestly broke my heart a little. And unfortunately for me, I was waiting around for my favorite boys to come back and for them to pick up where we left off but the farther into the story I got, the more apparent it became that it may just be a pipe dream.
What I didnโt expect was the pure TRAUMA this book was going to inflict on me and on my heart. How could you take them away from me not once but TWICE. I shed some very real tears and that rarely happens for me.

The character development for Cecelia over the course of the book really impressed me. With her age and everything sheโd gone through, she really became a strong, self assured woman and knew her worth. She asked for what she wanted and cut her losses and learned to stand up for herself.
I canโt wait to see where she ends up, both in life but as a person because it feels like sheโs unstoppable and headed for so many great things.

I still havenโt found the right word for my initial feeling about himโฆ HATE? That feels like the right word.
In all seriousnessโฆ I really didnโt like his character for the longest time but over time, he really started to pull me in. Iโm still not fully sold on him being โtheโ guy but I know thereโs more to come and I cannot wait to see how he comes back from everything thatโs happened.

This book was chaotic, messy and gave me whiplash. It made me giddy and it made me cry. Who wants boring, though?! I love how crazy this story is and how I canโt seem to predict a single thing thatโs going to happen to these characters. I mean, I canโt even clock whoโs going to be villain versus the love interest. Thatโs some real enemies to lovers and I couldnโt be mad at it if I tried.

Who couldnโt forgive her enough for being young and reckless. Who punished her for horrible mistakes he himself helped liberate her from, all the while loving her from afar because he refused to trust her enough to make her own decisions. My father slammed the door in her face. And it ruined her. Itโs poetic justice, really.โ
