Loved how this book is clearly made for Stephanie’s grown up fans and how it fills in some of the plot questions from the first movie. I loved Edwards perspective almost made me reread the entire series

The concept here seemed intriguing. Most of my interest stemmed from defining everyone’s powers and the theory that this story line might be better from the POV of a character with personality. Somehow it still missed the mark. I’ve heard a lot of people giving Meyers grief because of the long, drawn out inner monologue of Edward Collin. Personally I liked this (with some exceptions) but even this still somehow didn’t play into the plot or do much character building, which was a missed opportunity to say the least.

It was twice as long as Twilight where Edward had nothing substantial to say to accommodate that length. Edward rambles and says the same thing within pages as a narrator. A lot could have been cut from this book for it to make sense. Plus Edward is a creep. The end.

I hate Edward and this didn't help.

Edward is so boring and angsty, at first it was great because it was a much darker read than Twilight, but it got old very quickly. It was a very slow read up until the final few chapters, where a lot happens at once.

I have zero shame in saying that I’ve been a Twilight fan since day one. Although I don’t love Stephanie’s writing style, the story has its own magic that I’ve always loved. When the original series was first out, and this book was leaked and then all the drama about Stephanie not finishing it, I was so bummed. So when this was released, I was so excited. But honestly I think I could have done without it.

Edwards perspective just made the dynamic with him and Bella weird for me. And comparing this to more recent YA books over the last couple of years, it’s so obvious how screwed up their relationship is in versus when I read the original series so many years ago. With that said, overall, as such a big fan of the original series and the movies, this was a nice nostalgic read for me. And my favorite part was seeing Alice’s vision through Edward, I could honestly read a whole sub-series of just Alice, she was always my favorite character.

i really enjoyed getting the extra lore, history and scenes missed out in bella's account.

edward's relationship with the olympic coven is by far the biggest seller on this book for me

the biggest drawback is the insanely slow pace, i don't see myself reading this a second time and im a big rereader! this book took so long to get through.
