The whole Amos Decker series is fabulous. Turned me from someone who had never heard of David Baldacci to a real fan.
RATING: 4 STARS
This was another thrilling ride with Amon Decker and his partner Alex Jamison. No Melvin in this one, so was a bit sad, but still enjoyed the mystery and a bit of family background on Amos.

3 1/2 stars. Amos Decker and his partner Alex Jamison are dispatched to London, North Dakota, a previously dying town that has been reinvigorated by the ingress of the fracking industry. A schoolteacher at the local colony similar to Anabaptists has been found dead, and Amos and Alex are instructed to find out who killed her. Not knowing why the government is so interested in this seemingly small-town and nondescript woman, they investigate and get embroiled in tensions between the locals, and those between the locals and the frackers. I really love Amos Decker, but this has been my least favorite so far. There were way too many sub-plots going on that weren't necessary to the main plot, IMO.
So Baldacci is consolidating his series: Amos Decker and Will Robie, and Atlee Pine and John Puller. Give it a few more novels and he's got his own Avengers series.

I can’t even fathom how David Baldacci comes up with such super complicated stories that still make sense.

Almost gave this 3 stars only because there is a decent story hiding amongst the ridiculous, over-the-top action scenes, but….the implausible character scenes prevented me from doing so! Nothing more to say other than this seems to be the staple fare being served by US writers atm.
A good book in the Memory Man series but not a great one. Too many plot lines that didn’t connect. I am going to start the Will Robie series now though as I liked his part in this book.
