Zlata's Diary is just what the title says, a child's diary about their life during war. Set during the Bosnian war the story starts with a girl living a normal life, and hearing stories from her parents. She is told pretty early on that publisher's are looking for a diary to print in the likes of The Diary of Anne Frank. I think knowing that someone might be reading it someday probably stopped her from being completely honest in her diary.
