Buehlman continues to blow my mind with his original, macabre and gripping storytelling.

The setting and the take on magic was very intriguing. I also very much enjoyed most of the characters in the story.

I could easily see the necromancer's house achieving 5-stars. However, the ending was too open, and I feel a bit of potential was wasted as well, in regards to how much more the (Still amazing!) setting could have been explored.

I listened to the Audible version of this audiobook. I chose it because I enjoyed another book (The Lesser Dead) by this author so much. This one was also great. I love his writing, his characters, and the stories he tells. This one is an interesting and entertaining book about witches/wizards told from the perspective of the titular character---Andrew, the necromancer. I liked the author's version of witchcraft and the various types of witches/wizards, their different powers, and how they come to develop those powers.

So many good characters - i'm hoping for a prequel to illuminate some of their backstory's. Please make this happen Mr. Buehlman

I love this author!!! However I didn't love this book. It was a little less than OK which is why 2 stars. No struggled the whole time as I could not get my head around this Jump around story. Still love this author though!

Was really excited for this book. It was hard to get through though. Characters were not really developed. Seems like it could of been edited better because things were choppy. I will say great concept with a decent ending.

Billed as a horror novel, but really a fairy tale, The Necromancer's House/i> is a lovely long fever dream of bespelled vacuum cleaner protectors, hands of glory, and one very nasty Russian witch come down from the steppes on her house with chicken feet to exact revenge.

Andrew Blankenship is a recovering alcoholic and warlock with connections across the magical divides - a stoneworker, a hacker, and a rusalka - all butting heads against the day to day world they all must live in. Magic is costly and carefully considered (so are relationships). When a neighbor dies at the hands of Andrew's rusalka things get complicated and Baba Yaga comes to town or maybe she dies and sends someone else or maybe it's all one long dry drunk hallucination. Unexpected and highly entertaining, The Necromancer's House is joy throughout with its complex world building and interwoven threads of deeply realized characters. A great read - like all good fairy tales. Recommended.
