Overall, this was a decent read. I like the whole alpha/omega pack dynamic. This world feels like an interesting mashup of Kaythrn Moon/Lana Cole’s Sweetsverse and Leann Ryans’ Omega Market series.
The conceit of the novel is that our protagonist doesn’t want an alpha pack or babies. It’s a “not like other omegas” trope. Like most of these, we find out early in our protagonist DOES want all these things, just on an augmented timeline.
The protagonist deal with family trauma from her past that’s had an enormous impact on her. I had mixed feelings about what the trauma was and how the book presents it. From a messaging perspective, I think the presentation’s good. From a storytelling perceptive, I never found it particularly griping.
I prefer the second book in the series, but this is a pleasant introduction.
