If you're a Michigan reader or a lover of basset hounds (I am both!) this series should catch your eye. Some of the characters are a bit backwards, but it represents the reality of the backwards little pockets of Michigan. 🍞🦙

Repo Madness strikes again! I really like this series. Ruddy finds some information that may help clear his conscience about his past sins and struggles to keep everything going in his busy life. Full of humorous but relatable characters and just the right amount of mystery. I recommend!

It isn't a secret that a movie has just been released based on W. Bruce Cameron's popular novel "A Dog's Purpose" and I'll be honest, while I have not yet read that immensely popular book, I have been meaning to read it for a very, very, very long time. And since I try not to watch movies until I have read the book, I am now a lot more motivated to get right on that. I promise, I will read it, and then watch the movie...eventually. ;)

But two(ish) years ago I met Ruddy McCann the Repo Man in the first book in this series "The Midnight Plan of the Repo Man," and I was hooked immediately. Ruddy is just the sort of narrator that I like, both straight to the point and cynical as hell, but also with that all important heart of gold.

REPO MADNESS continues Ruddy's story, and I have to say that this second book in the series is even better than the first installment. I enjoy when a series allows its characters to grow and change, while still remaining quintessentially "them" at the same time. I think that I actually had a greater appreciation for all of their quirks and eccentricities the second time around, having come to know them all fairly well by the end of the first novel. I could relax and enjoy them in a way that I just couldn't when I was still getting to know them.

I suppose that I can't really write a proper review of this book without at least mentioning that our narrator Ruddy McCann hears a voice in his head. During the first book he becomes convinced, after a time, that this voice is the ghost of a Realtor whose death is a mystery. During REPO MADNESS he slowly begins to question whether or not that is really true and what that means about his own sanity.

At the end of the day, this book (and series) is just so much FUN to read. The humor is sometimes silly and sometimes wry. The mystery element is well constructed and carries a very real emotion to it while bringing us to a heart-pounding and action-packed conclusion.

My only regret is that I have now finished it and there is not yet another one published. Needless to say, I am going to be anxiously awaiting the next installment!

Another fun adventure with Ruddy and Jake. I wasn't sure how there would be a second book, based on the ending of the previous one, but the author found a way to make it plausible and work. There appears to be a setup for a book three. I remain hopeful the adventures will continue
