Just like with the previous two books in this series, I couldn’t put this one down. Probably slightly below Spook Street and London Rules for me, but still 5-star quality. The author, Mick Herron, has a gift for witty dialogue and pacing action that keeps you guessing but also makes you feel comfortable that he knows exactly what he’s doing, even if the characters don’t (short of Jackson Lamb of course).

Another repetitive plot…but who cares when you have the beautifully disgusting Jackson Lamb to look forward to. Credit Herron for making up for the story plots by digging deep and sussing out the characters. I read the first couple of books and was not keen on continuing the series, but I looked up and ere I am. I’ll finish the series before the new year.

God I’ve missed Slough House and Mick Herron’s writing since last July. It’s just fucking hilarious.

This one’s decent as it goes. Not his best but still pretty engaging. It does feel like it rushes the story a bit, as it was nearly over just as I thought we were getting going, and some of the characters feel a bit underused in comparison to previous books.

What happens in the book is very funny given news about a certain prince that came out not long after its publication. Very plausible plotline.
