It was fine. A little twist on the omnipresence of certain villains in the first three books, but not perhaps so much of a twist as I would have liked. It's as if these books were written for children.

“Just knowing that they could read made the Baudelaire orphans feel as if their wretched lives could be a little brighter.”

Not my favorite of the series, but always worth a reread on the way to The End. If you haven’t read these and watched the Netflix series you’d love it!

In this instalment of the Unfortunate Events series, the Baudelaire's are at The Miserable Mill.
The 3 children are forced to work in the Lumber Mill and survive on one meal a day with a lunch that consists of a stick of gum. This book had interesting aspects, the opticians were creative but overall not my favourite so far. Although this one does live up to the title and it is filled with unfortunate happenings, the poor children do not catch any break in this book at all.
