Cyrus is the most wonderful guy I met this year.
What a sweet, loving man.
He takes care of people, accepts their strengths and is willing to be an ever better person than he was before.
He deserves to have his Beth.

Penny, you promised bonus scenes. I can't wait!!

Trigger warning: death, grief, car accident, post-traumatic stress

I am a huge fan of Penny Reid, but I have to say that I am a little disappointed with this one. The plot didn't develop the way I expected. What is shared in the synopsis doesn't happen until really late in the book and it actually doesn't really last that long of time either haha. We spent a lot of time before this exciting incident which set a really slow pace which is unusual for Reid. I hoped this would be offset by the characters and their chemistry but it didn't work that way. I really liked Cyrus, he's a super charismatic guy and I really loved his perspective. Beth was much harder to get to know, not only for Cyrus but also for the reader. I understood where she was coming from, she put a lot of weight on professionalism and good behavior, but it made it harder to truly understand her as a person. I wish their connection had developed more on page because the ending felt really rushed, though cute. I am looking forward to seeing how the third book will be!

I had read the book, but it was the audiobook that made me fall so deep for Beth and Cyrus. I became addicted to the story and all the bumbling moments that occurred between them.

Not dissimilar to Homecoming King in that the basics work really well but there are issues at the edges in terms of story telling but a good fun Reid style Christmas read.
