This book was amazing. I knew after the first 3 pages I was going to love it and I did!

Thoroughly enjoyed Soonish - both the humor and the compelling, informative dives into technology subjects. Maybe we can get a sequel in 20 years to see how things play out!

Received a review copy of the first three chapters of this book on Netgalley. Will update when I read the rest of the book.

The authors blended current science with prediction and humor. The best part of the research is the interviews they had with exhibits in the field. The cartoon asides brought a lightness to what could (in other circumstances) be rather dry.

***Finally read the rest of the book and it was as enjoyable as the first three chapters. If you enjoy technology and want to read where current cutting edge tech might lead, this is a great place to start.

Good round up of 10 emerging fields, plus some bonus didn't-quite-make-it ones at the end. Maybe 3 is a little harsh: it's quite good, perhaps a little uneven, sometimes feels a little bit like a grab-bag, and of course everything in this crystal-ball-gazing is going to be a little nebulous by nature. Does a good job of rounding up different paths that might lead to end states, how it could go wrong or right.

I picked this up as a Daily Deal on Audible, I had seen it before and been curious. I've listened to the entire thing now and actually really enjoyed it. With the author doing the reading for the audiobook a lot of the humor really came through and I felt that the book was interesting, informative, and humorous. Would recommend. However it reads more like a very long article or listens like a podcast so it's a great one to pickup from the library or if you get a deal.

Overview of emerging technologies that is just the right blend of readability and technical, with jokes spread throughout to add some fun! If you follow tech news, some of it may *already* feel dated, which is a bit surprising since it's only 6 years old. This is a great article if you just want the short list without diving into the full book:

An entertaining deep-dive into several emerging technologies. I liked its sense of humor and the discussion of the technology was really interesting. I don't think we'll be seeing most of these things anytime soon (no space elevator likely within my lifetime, sadly) but we'll probably see progress on some of them.

As a fan of Zach, and now fan of Kelly, I had to read this book. Exactly what it promises, research enhanced by humor, Soonish is a great look at where we are and where we’re going.
