A breath of fresh air for a YA fantasy. The Moulin Rouge inspiration is clear but still very much it’s own story. Very romantic but also plenty of other plot and stakes which make it hard to put down. Magic system is super original- love the cost of each type of magic. You don’t need an encyclopedia or a map for this book- an entertaining read even if you don’t read a ton of fantasy.
