Here I go again, getting myself into another amazing series! I was lured in from the first pages and couldn't put it down once I started. Ms. Cole is a brilliant storyteller! The books shifts from present day to past and even POVs. The entire book was like a puzzle, and I was dying for all the pieces to fit.
I never thought I would love an apocalyptic, bow carrying hero more than my Daryl Dixon, but Jackson Deveaux is serious competition! Jackson was head strong, good hearted, but not without his flaws. It was apparent that he would do anything to protect Evie, even when he was being cruel to her. Oh, and he speaks Creole...love it! Evie was not the typical kick butt heroine but she was tough and badass when she needed to be. I can't wait to see what other powers she unfolds in the next book.
I had to start book #2 right away, there was no way I wanted to wait to see what happens to this group!

I love Kresley Coles 'Immortals After Dark" series- probably because of the paranormal element. I do not care for dystopian anything.
I have had this book in my library for almost two years just forgot it was there.
I finally started it, and now I see why I never started it- It is so not my genre. And it is very YA. I can only handle so much in the way of YA.
Didn't love the cajun accent for Jack. The narrators sounded like teenagers - which I suppose works for this- but I didn't love it.

Got this at Comic-Con on Thursday, really excited to read Ms Cole's venture into YA.
Update: finished in two days, loved it and now I have to wait how long for the next book??
I love post-apocalyptic fiction and I love a little bit of romance, throw in a Cajun bad boy and I'm hooked!

This book was nearly a 2 star review until the ending. I was bored through most of the book. I'm also not much for teen romance and it was vert teen at points. I loved the idea behind the book but I think I don't really care for YA books.

I'm not really a fan of apocalyptic books but this one was different. It was a little slow to get going but once it did it left me wanting more. I didn't want to put the book down. This book tells Evie's story of how she survives post apocalypse and how she struggles to come to the turns of the loss of her mother, the voices in her head, the nightmares and her feelings for Jackson and the fact that she saw all this happening in visions before it all happened.I am glad i read this book because i loved it. I just wished Jackson and Evie got together as a couple i still hold out hope that they do in the next book.
Evie Greene knows two things. She is crazy. She hates Jackson Deveaux.
Only she isn't crazy and she doesn't hate Jackson Deveaux.
Poison Princess is set in a post-apocalyptic world where the elements, cannibals, the militia, the plague, and Bagmen make survival a feat. If that's not enough, Evie and her colourful cast of companions are part of a prophecy. Can Evie harness her tremendous power and save the world?
The first in The Arcana Chronicles series, Poison Princess is a whirlwind adventure. Written from the perspective of Evie, the reader is left wondering for a long time whether or not she actually is crazy. Equal parts thriller, action and romance this is a great read!
