Graphic torture was too much.

Will probably a favorite of the year. Engrossing, nuanced, incredible story

Excellent book.  I had heard of the thousands of people the junta in Argentina "disappeared," never to be heard from again.  But I was completely unaware of the junta's particularly horrific practice of kidnapping pregnant women, holding them until they gave birth, and then stealing their babies and giving them to friends of the junta--and then killing the mothers (and, usually, the fathers too).  Nor had I heard of the "Abuelas" who formed a group dedicated to finding their hundreds of stolen grandchildren and relentlessly pursued their quest to find as many of them as possible.  Gilliland weaves this horrible series of events into a gripping narrative that held my interest from beginning to end.
