Because the author is a journalist, and she sets up the book as a journalism deep dive, I expected the book to be more fact-based. Unfortunately, it’s largely the author’s own experience as a working mother in America and quotes/stories from other mothers. I don’t need, or even want, to hear about women’s experiences I don’t know because they are no different from any of the moms I know. It’s like reliving a trauma, listening to various women talk about how they suffered through the total disdain for all things “mother” in the U.S.

Just got to be too repetitive. Her point could have been made in half the length.
