Wit meets underlying reals

There wasn't a lot to sell the MMC in this book other than his constant seeming shenanigans with women, workaholic-ing and break neck speed at life. Tali found herself a temporary assistant to Hayes the aesthetic doctor to the stars. These two had all the disrespect for one another with lots of snarky banter that became endearment.

There was a solid plot underlying these characters lives. Each with some backstory and Tali in particular with some current issues in terms of exes, family dysfunction and grief. As a bystander, I could see Hayes falling when Tali just couldn't see it.

I went from feeling a bit of revulsion at Hayes, to being on his side. Tali was strong on the outside and softest of soft on the inside. An authentic connection built between these two and I was here for it. The on-page heat worked for these two.

I'm pretty pumped to have found an new contemporary romance series to get my teeth into. I can't wait to read more in this series. Side note, if you're a fan of TL Swan, I'd say look no further for that similar vibe in terms of wit meets underlying reals.

Thank you to Piatkus Books for the review copy.

Absolutely loved it! But her mother and sister annoyed the fuck out of me.

I thoroughly enjoyed the banter and pace of this book. Tali was an extremely witty girl and I loved that her little comments amused the typical grumpy boss. This book has the perfect amount of romance and drama, as well as some very real family traumas to work through. I highly recommend!

I loved this book! If you love a grumpy/tortured MC who is soft only for the heroine, quick-witted banter, hate-to-love, and slow burn, you’ll enjoy this book, too. I loved all of the small ways Hayes showed his feelings for the Tali throughout the story. And I loved the way the Tali took care of Hayes in ways that he had been lacking in his life, despite his protests (making him smoothies and healthy lunches and forcing him to take vacations).

3.5 Stars

I haven't read a book by this author before so I was excited to read a new romance author. Although it wasn't perfect, I definitely enjoyed it and will be continuing the series.

A Deal With The Devil is about Tali, a 24 year old author who is writing her first book, but like the rest of her life, it isn't going too well. A year ago her Father died and her ex cheated on her straight after. Her family is fallig apart and she has used her advance to pay for everything they need and is living off ramen noodles. Her best friend Jonathan asks her to cover his job working as a PA for a cosmetic surgeon (who will be paying her 4k a week!). Said doctor is Hayes, a beautiful man that has more one-night stands than hot dinners and not much else of a life outside of work.
Tali and Hayes clash a bit at first but he loves how she treats him normally and tells him off, and she starts to see the heart inside him.

I loved this storyline! It was a slow burn and I did want it to move a little faster at times, plus there was a decent amount of miscommunication which is a pet hate. But the  story was interesting and definitely held my attention. The ending did feel a little rushed however.

The characters unfortunately were a mixed bag for me. I LOVE Hayes. He is a good guy with a bad boy wall up due to being hurt in the past. He has brilliant wit and was sexy as hell. Unfortunately I foubd Tali a little frustrating. To begin with she was SO judgemental it nearly made me DNF. However I am so glad I stuck with it. Her personality does improve but she was too clueless at times and in my opinion she didn't deserve Hayes as she didn't truly see all the amazing things he did for her.

The side characters were really good and I am very excited for some of the other books in this series because of them.

The writing was good, geberally fast moving and addictive. It has definitely made me want to read more by this author.

Overall, a really good start to the series and I am looking forward to reading the next book. Definitely recommend to romance readers that enjoy a slow burn and workplace romance!

Please note that I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
