This was an interesting read, I am not very much into westerns but this was original and the main character had a strong personality that I loved!

everything i want from a book! entertaining, well written, with fun characters and a satisfying storyline. not overwrought or aspiring for themes higher than it has time for but still plenty of subtleties and complex character psychology

A western about a young woman making her way on her own in Dodge City at a brothel with a bunch of her fellow ladies of the night, Lucky Red is a sapphic adventure story with lots of action and heartbreak. The writing is lovely, and the audiobook is great. The pacing of this is oddly slow, however, and doesn't match the synopsis of the book. I definitely felt the author's love for her characters, even as they made predictably bad choices. Also, I kept thinking, how are these women having sex with all these men, and none of them are sick or pregnant? Still, the ending is a banger. I'm definitely interested in what this author does next.
