The black and white pictures paint a portrait of this family and almost make them seem as if they are in a movie. Which from background with Ramona Quimbly, you would know that she often likes to act as if her whole life is one. It has such a humanistic approach from the start of the book with her dad in school, to the end pages. (No spoilers!)

Definitely a simple book that would be great for readers, in my recommendation, in 3-5th grades!

Anika and I read this together as part of her literature studies. We both enjoyed it and are looking forward to more Ramona books.

I know I have read this book a few times in my life, but it had been awhile. Sydnee and I read this together and enjoyed it from my original childhood copy. I love this book because I can relate to it as much today as I did when I was eight. It is the story about family. How family is different yet the same. That family isn't perfect. I also realized from this book that kids 'sense' things. They know. So talk to them and let them know that everything might not be ok, but we are working together to make the best family we can be.
Oh
and Beverly Cleary...
she is still a genius.
