Just a bit too long, but still fantastic. Anne is the best Brontë sister and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise.

I think I would have preferred Helen have ended up with someone completely outside of the story of her suffering, but Gilbert Markham is a kind man who demonstrates the ability to reflect and change and does truly care for her, so it could be worse.

i love how brontë heroines always go Too Far it's like they just press the body of the text until it bruises all the time. also the nice guy gilbert markum encircling frame narrative is so scary...patriarchy as an attempt to supplant the real woman w the constructed imagined one. will the real helen graham please stand up!
