Just Three Words by Melissa Brayden

What can I say, another fluffy romance from Melissa Brayden, with the return of all the Soho Savvy girls from Kiss the Girl. Brooklyn fell in love in the first book, so now Sam needs a new roommate. In moves Hunter, the exotic girl of Hawaiian descent who was sold as the major player of the crew last book. Furthermore, Sam just got dumped by her girlfriend Libby, and so Hunter moves in at an interesting time.

Needless to say, friends turn into lovers, and the struggle is if they're just friends with benefits or possibly more? In case you are wondering, it's possibly more.

It was super-fluffy, romantic, good chemistry, I enjoyed it. Maybe even a touch more than the first book because Sam is just adorable. Also, thumbs up for the author sticking with Sam being bisexual, that was a nice touch, even in a lesbian romance novel.

My first f/f!!! I accidentally read this one before the first in the series, and when I realised it was the second I was already so into the main trope here that I didn't want to go back. FRIENDS IN LOVE.

My very favourite thing about this was how much it felt like a book WITH WOMEN. Like, just the way the story unfolds, the kind of acknowledgment they have of each other and the way they work things out. And the way they talk to each other, and about each other; that kind of shorthand - all of that just felt so right to me, and on that basis alone such a breath of fresh air in my romance-novel-filled livin'. I really dug it.

I loved these main characters so much, too. Sam radiates good energy, somehow, just off this text? I always adore it when things are shown instead of just said - and Sam's described to be warm and attuned to people early on, but every encounter you see of hers from that point on absolutely comes across that way, too, which I appreciate so much. And Hunter's push-pull and the way she thought about everything was so endearing - also surprising, because with any other writer or any other character that indecisiveness would feel contrived and very much there to create drama, for me. And together I thought they were so charming!! I kind of loved that they weren't the best of friends and actually had a little spare room to navigate - it felt realistic but also gave them time to grow, which gave the book itself some space to breathe, I think.

Only one main complaint, really - I find it really jarring when romance novels have switching POVs within just one scene, because I like letting characters have their own space to experience a Moment. And also I think it feels clumsy most of the time. Plus, all of the movement's made a little extra difficult in a book like this, when both of them have the same pronoun!!!

Otherwise - can't wait to read the rest of this series.

First few chapters dragged a little bit but once it picked up I got hooked and stayed up till 3 am to finish it. Really good romance with characters who had believable chemistry.

The Soho Loft books are just good, sweet fun. I'm glad I have them all on Audible for optimal relistening whenever I want (granted I still haven't listened to the third but I'm going to save it for a bit). The only thing that annoys me is that the narrator can't decide whether to keep Brooklyn's accent, but that's really my only gripe, and wasn't a huge problem in this book. I loved all the glimpses we got of Brook and Jessica, so I'm hoping there'll be more of them and Sam and Hunter in the third one. I definitely recommend these books if you're looking for some cute f/f stories!

May have liked book #1 better...

In all of these I wish they spent more time resolving things between the characters and their parents, all of whom I've enjoyed seeing play out.
