It was cute! Classic Jenkins romance great male lead character and strong female protagonist. This was different that her typical historical fiction it was more of a thriller novella either way it’s a short quick fulfilling read

I liked RARE DANGER but I think it suffered under the novella format because everything happened so fast and there wasn't much time to build the suspense or tension surrounding our villain. It almost felt like the story was being told from a third party observer who was just recounting the events and this created a disconnect with the emotional side of the story.

That being said, I really liked both Jasmine and Torr as characters and I would have loved to read more about them. While the plot didn't do much for me, the characters really shined and kept me going. Jasmine was self-assured and tough and Torr was charming and rugged; together they make a great investigative team and couple. They fall in love quickly but they know what they want in life and go for it. Side bonus, I also loved all the librarian touches.

quick, fun read!

I’ve only read Beverly Jenkins’ historical romances so far, so I was excited to read something different by her. This was a fun, exciting suspense. Love a bad-ass heroine and a swoonworthy hero.

Cheesy

This book was corny, but still entertaining. The meet cute at the beginning was fun and made me look forward to the rest of the book. I especially enjoyed learning about Jasmine’s unique business. But then the story turned into a silly murder for hire trope. The dark underbelly of the antique book world was just too much for me. They conveniently had armored vehicles, assault weapons, and law enforcement parents at their disposal. While they morphed into crime fighters, they were still focused on undressing each other. This story really did the most in a short amount of time. It definitely held my interest even though it was leaning towards soap opera territory.

4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars! Jasmine is a library curator with celebrity clientele.  She works closely with Elliott and his partner with getting rare books from them.  Elliott’s partner, OB is murdered and Elliott wants to leave town because he knows why his partner was murdered and doesn’t want to be next. Jasmine meets Torr one night after a blind date with someone else that was bad. They meet again when Jasmine has a job and Torr happens to be the client.  Jasmine, Torr and Elliott’s stories intertwine with each other and it all comes to a head in the end.  This was such a good mystery, suspense thriller that I definitely recommend!
